  • Her professional career ended in 1959 when she appeared in the new musical "At the Grand," an adaptation of "Grand Hotel" that co-starred 'Paul Muni (I)' . The show closed during tryouts in San Francisco before reaching Broadway. After that, she settled into her wifely role of Mrs. Steve McQueen.
  • Had been left with relatives by her mother in Manila at the time the islands were attacked by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. A month later the Japanese occupied Manila. In 1945, during the island's liberation by Allied forces, she suffered shrapnel wounds to one of her legs. Her mother eventually returned to Manila and brought her daughter back to the States.
  • As a teenager she attended Rosemary Hall, a private school in Connecticut.
  • Once modeled for detective and crime magazine covers.
  • Made her Broadway debut as a featured dancer in "Kismet" starring 'Alfred Drake' as one of three princesses of Ababu. A few months later she replaced the lead dancer and stayed with the show's two-year run.
  • In 1956 she replaced 'Carol Haney' as the kooky star of Broadway's "The Pajama Game".
  • Neile is the daughter of Carmen Sulse Salvador, a hula dancer professionally known as "Miami", and José Salgado Arrastia. She was raised by her mother. Neile's ancestry includes Spanish and Filipino.
  • Trained in New York with the American Theatre Wing, the America President School of Acting, and the Katherine Dunham School of Dance.
  • Her niece is socialite 'Isabel Preysler' , and her great-nephew is singer 'Enrique Iglesias (I)' , who is Isabel's son. Neile's father, José Salgado Arrastia, was Isabel's maternal grandfather.
