Also known as Di
Was born at 16 June 1987 (now is 31 years old) in Birmingham, Alabama, USA

Diana DeGarmo, a country girl from Georgia and American Idol Season 3Runner-Up just released her first real Country EP, "Live To Love",composed of songs she co-wrote with new fiancé Ace Young, that isdigitally distributed through Jimmy Buffett's Mailboat Records. She hasmultiple Theatre credits including "Hairspray" & "HAIR" on Broadway andwas just recently seen as Angelina Veneziano on the Number 1 Daytime TVDrama, "The Young & The Restless. "Diana DeGarmo was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 16, 1987, but grewup primarily in Snellville, Georgia. Auditioning on American Idol atage 16, DeGarmo went through weeks of auditions before making it to thetop 32, where she then sang before a national TV audience.

Voted intothe top 12 by the American public, DeGarmo impressed with performanceslike "Think", "One Voice", "No More Tears", "This is It", "Because YouLoved Me" and "Don't Cry Out Loud", and after making it to the bottom 3three times, consistently became a fan favorite, making it all the wayto the finals. Losing out to Fantasia Barrino by 1-2% of the vote onMay 26, 2004, DeGarmo went on tour with the rest of the top 10. Shereleased her single "Dreams" at the same time, which became the thirdbest selling single of the year. That summer, DeGarmo also recorded herdebut album with RCA Records. Released December 7, 2004, "Blue Skies"showcased DeGarmo's amazing range and vocal prowess.

The album did notecho well with the public, however, selling under 200, 000 copies. Manyattributed this to the paltry promotion given by the label. Whilepromoting the album, DeGarmo worked towards her high school diploma(then just 17) and graduated in 2005 with a 3. 8 GPA and as a member ofthe National Honor Society and The Beta Club, impressive for a teenagerjuggling a singing career at the same time. In 2005, DeGarmo split withlabel RCA Records per her request and went on to pursue otheropportunities in the entertainment industry.

While DeGarmo had performed in local Atlanta productions of "Joseph andThe Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Annie" as a child, she made hertheatrical debut in a lead role as Maria in the San Jose production of"West Side Story" in November 2005. DeGarmo impressed as Maria withboth her singing and natural acting ability. At the end of 2005,DeGarmo also went on a USO tour to entertain the troops in 13 countriesoverseas, including Afghanistan and Iraq. It was a life-changingexperience for DeGarmo. Shortly thereafter, DeGarmo set her sights onBroadway, debuting in the role of nerdy sidekick Penny Pingleton inBroadway's "Hairspray" in February 2006.

DeGarmo impressed doubters andfans alike with her comedic prowess, proving herself a highly talentedmusical theatre actress. She toured with "Brooklyn: The Musical" in thesummer of 2006 with Tony Award winners Melba Moore and CleavantDerricks, then returned to "Hairspray" to reprise her role as Pennyuntil February 2007. DeGarmo began recording a sophomore Pop/R&B album independently inAtlanta in 2007, but backed out of the project after it took adirection she did not want to take. While participating in the CMTreality TV competition "Gone Country" in 2007, DeGarmo realized herheart was really in country music and decided to return to her roots inthe genre, having started singing country music as a child. She nowlives in Nashville and performs as a country singer/songwriter.

Inearly 2009, DeGarmo released "Unplugged in Nashville", an acoustic EPof four of her original songs and served as co-writer on all tracks. She now splits her time between her country music career and hermusical theatre career, having spent most of 2009 dedicated to thelatter (Back to Bacharach and David, Joseph and The Amazing TechnicolorDreamcoat, Off-Broadway's The Toxic Avenger Musical). .

There is the list of some quotes of Diana DeGarmo:
  • I have a very voluptuous rear, I have a J. Lo butt and I'm proud of it!
  • I've been doing this sort of thing my entire life. It's my love, it's my passion, it's what I do day in and day out. I eat, sleep, and breathe music and singing.
  • Because I came in second place, it makes me want to work harder
  • I grew up listening to 'Patsy Cline' . I was a huge Patsy Cline fan. I still am. Even though she's considered country, I think of her more as a blues singer. She's got a great blues voice and she has such an amazing story, which I always loved. I knew her entire greatest hits album backwards, forwards and inside out. My mother would try and skip over some of the songs to make the tape shorter and I'd go, "Hey, you missed one! You missed one!"
  • I have found that the best thing to do in life is to look forward to the future and not dwell on the past. We all have problems. We can use them as an excuse or a stepping stone, but how we handle them is what sets us apart as human beings. Life is a giant school, and what we do with those lessons is up to us.
