Jaclyn Bethany, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, made her New Yorkacting debut in A Map of Virtue directed by Tony Winner Pam MacKinnon. Jaclyn has performed with theatre companies such as the BerkshireTheatre Festival and the Powerhouse Theatre. Internationally, she hastrained extensively in London at RADA, LAMDA, Guildhall, BADA and TheNational Theatre. Jaclyn is a graduate of Fordham University's theatreprogram.
Her company's first theatre production Drama in The Afternoonwas performed Off-Broadway. A compilation of Tennessee Williams plays,Jaclyn played the role of Alma opposite James Alan McCune (Shameless). Jaclyn's interest in film began in 2011 when she interned at the SydneyFilm Festival. She is the founder of Mississippi based productioncompany BKE Productions. Jaclyn made her screen debut in Get on Up(dir.
Tate Taylor). Following this experience, Jaclyn wrote andproduced the short film Olivia Martha Ilse. She plays Martha alongsideJames Frain, Emmy award winner Tammy Blanchard and Tonea Stewart. Theshort premiered at Berlinale/EFM, followed by market participation atCannes Film Festival and Palm Springs Shortfest. The film was also incompletion at The Crossroads Film Festival and Mykonos Biennale.
Jaclyn's feature film credits include roles in Trumbo, I Saw The Light,Speech & Debate, The Big Short, Worry Dolls, and a supporting role inMiles with Molly Shannon and Paul Reiser. An accomplished writer,Jaclyn's screenplay Woods was selected for Fest: New Directors/NewFilms in Portugal in June 2015. She is also an alum of Reykjavik FilmFestival's Talent Lab. Jaclyn recently completed post-production on hersecond short film Dear Annabel directed by Connie Hoy, to be releasedin 2016. The upcoming short films Between Departures with PatrickWalshe McBride, and Schoolgirls starring Lauren McCrostie, Rosie Tapnerand Charissa Shearer mark her debut as a director.
Ms. Bethany's performance in Between Departures has gained severalaccolades including Best Actress in a Short nominee at the NohoCinefest and a special recognition, along with the film, in theAccolade Competition/Global Film Awards. Jaclyn currently resides in London where she is studying for her mastersin screenwriting at the London Film School. .
